This count includes sales of the original Persona 5 and Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight, as well as Persona 5 Royal and Persona 5 Strikers.
For a Japanese video game developer and publisher, ATLUS, Persona 5 was a major financial success, resulting in several spin-offs published in the years after the game's first release. Now, Persona 5 has accomplished yet another significant milestone reaching 9 million copies sold.
In a recent press release regarding the announcement, ATLUS has confirmed that the series has now collectively sold over 9 million units all over the world. The count included sales of the original Persona 5, Persona 5 Royal, Persona 5 Strikers and Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight.
At the end of 2022, Persona 5 sales topped 8.3 million copies, with the total sales of the Persona franchise of 16.8 million units. Although ATLUS hasn't released updated data for the franchise's overall sales, the fact that Persona 5 has kept up its strong sales since it was released last year would imply that the number is getting close to 18 million units. This would also imply that the Persona 5 series is responsible for about half of the franchise's overall sales.
Right before Xbox Games Showcase, ATLUS accidentally uploaded the announcement trailers of Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Tactica.
In the latest announcement, the game seems to take place before the end of the original Persona 5. Persona 5 Tactica is set to launch on November 17 for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. It will also be available on Game Pass at launch.
