Post-Apocalyptic Train Scene Made With Unreal Engine 5.1

The environment was made to test out the new version of the engine's Nanite and Lumen.

In case you missed it, last week, Epic Games released Unreal Engine 5.1, a massive update to the company's game engine that brought upgrades to Lumen and Nanite, enhanced world-building tools, improvements to virtual production workflows, and more. With the new version's release, many artists and developers started experimenting with it to learn more about UE5.1's capabilities and how it can be used to push their projects to a whole new level.

One such creator is the renowned 3D Environment Artist and Principal Lighting/Lookdev Artist at Tornbanner Studios Pasquale Scionti, who recently showcased a stunning train environment with post-apocalyptic vibes.

The scene depicts a decrepit train car with untended vegetation, garbage, and human skeletons all over the place, as well as a gray and gloomy outdoor environment with tons of dead trees and neglected buildings in the background. According to the artist, the goal of the project was to test out UE5.1's upgraded Nanite and Lumen features.
