Procedurally Generated Realistic Sea Foam In Unity

Part of Eugatnom Studios' Tidal.

This demo is part of Eugatnom Studios' Tidal, a solution for GPU-accelerated URP water featuring waves, refraction, foam, and underwater effects. The foam is mostly created using layered fractal and Voronoi noise, with added distortion to break up repeating patterns and give it a more natural look. On the developer's setup (RTX 3060 with an i7-11700K), it runs at around 120-200 FPS in the editor.

According to the developer, the system has been in active development for some time, with more new features on the way. In the meantime, you can check out Tidal, which is built around FFT-based wave simulation, clipmapped ocean meshes, and modular subsystems. It's designed for oceans, lakes, pools, and other large water bodies, with a strong focus on performance, flexibility, and editor tooling.

Tidal comes with extensive documentation, including full setup guides, inspector references, performance tips, and demo content. A license for this asset includes access to updates for Unity 2022-2023 and Unity 6.0-6.3, as well as future improvements.
