Real-Time Hair in Unreal Engine Without Cards

We're getting closer to realistic real-time hair. 

AMGI Studios has recently shared a video showcasing their experiments with real-time hair in UE4. 

What you see here is 100k hair curves deforming and simulating along with a character mesh in real-time. "There were no cards used for this test. Full groom splines, exported from Xgen," wrote the team.

Yes, we're getting closer to the desired result. Still, we need a couple of years (maybe more) to get the desired results in games.
