Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Just Got Released

Were you waiting for this?

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is a game in the A Plague Tale series that occurs 15 years before the events of A Plague Tale: Requiem.

In this game, Sophia, a young plunderer, embarks on a journey to uncover the secrets of her past and her connection to the Minotaur's Island. She will face deadly trials and will have to solve puzzles along the way.

In an interview, David Dedeine, the Co-Founder and Creative Director of Asobo Studio, explained that it was important for them to create a game that made sense with the story of A Plague Tale: Requiem.

"Throughout development [of Resonance], we regularly went back to Sophia's scenes in Requiem to make sure everything remained consistent," Dedeine said. "And sometimes, I was surprised by how naturally Resonance seemed to fit. It almost felt as if Sophia already knew her own story before we did."

Dedeine also mentioned that it was important to make Sophia a very skilled but human character, someone who could die but also survive by killing enemies. He noted this represented a challenge to developers, but the final result is well-balanced.

The Creative Director added that they "wanted to push the action layer of the experience further" by including more diverse environments, brighter landscapes, a stronger sense of exploration, and its own identity in the series.

The game also has an incredible soundtrack using Turkish yayli tambur, Arabic rebab, Greek bouzouki, and a carnyx, an ancient Celtic war instrument.
