Rouge Studios Expands Beyond Mocap With New Facility and Full Production Pipeline

The newly rebranded studio positions itself as a full-service cinematic co-development partner, unifying performance capture, scanning, VFX, and engine-ready delivery under one roof.

Rouge Mocap has officially rebranded as Rouge Studios, marking the company’s evolution in both identity and scope, and reinforcing years of full-service co-development built on a foundation of high-end motion capture. Alongside the rebrand, the studio has unveiled a new 22,000-square-foot flagship campus in Playa Vista, designed to support a fully integrated production pipeline spanning games, film, television, and emerging media.

This new flagship space reflects the company's culture of collaboration, diversity, and mentorship, serving as a central space for artists, performers, and technologists, and should continue to evolve and expand with the company.

The move reflects a broader industry trend toward consolidation of production workflows, where studios increasingly seek partners capable of handling everything from early performance capture through to final engine-ready assets. Rouge Studios is positioning itself directly within that space, aiming to act not just as a service provider, but as an embedded creative partner throughout development for clients across North America, Europe, and Asia.

Previously known for its motion capture capabilities, Rouge Studios has evolved into a full-spectrum production partner focused on performance-driven storytelling. The company’s approach emphasizes end-to-end cinematic co-development, uniting traditionally siloed disciplines into a single, cohesive pipeline.

Rather than treating mocap as a standalone service, the studio brings performance capture, 3D scanning, animation, visual effects, lighting, sound, and cinematic design into a single, unified workflow. This allows projects to move from physical performance to final digital output without the friction typically caused by handoffs between vendors or teams.

CEO Jenna Melfi framed the shift as both a reflection of the studio’s evolution and a response to broader industry needs, noting that modern production increasingly demands collaboration and consistency across disciplines.

“This expansion and rebrand reflect who we already are and where the industry is heading. Rouge Studios is a full-service cinematic co-development partner built for modern production. We’ve built our reputation on collaboration, consistency, and a commitment to doing the work at the highest level. We are incredibly proud of the worlds we’ve helped build, and even more excited about what’s ahead.”

- CEO Jenna Melfi

Serving clients across North America, Europe, and Asia, the Playa Vista campus acts as both a production hub and creative home base. The 22,000-square-foot space is designed to support the entire lifecycle of cinematic production within a single environment.

The facility includes dedicated areas for performance capture, scanning, ADR, and post-production, all connected through a pipeline that prioritizes continuity of creative intent. By housing these capabilities together, the studio aims to reduce fragmentation and enable tighter collaboration between artists, performers, and technical teams.

This kind of vertically integrated setup is increasingly relevant as real-time engines and virtual production workflows continue to blur the lines between film, television, and game development.

Despite the expansion into new services, Rouge Studios continues to center its work around human performance. President and CTO Vince Argentine emphasized that technology serves as a tool rather than the focal point, reinforcing a philosophy that prioritizes artistic expression over purely technical innovation.

At its core, Rouge Studios remains focused on human expression. The new flagship reflects a culture of collaboration, diversity, and mentorship, creating a space where artists, performers, and technologists can push creative boundaries together.

“We’re not just providing a space or operating machinery; we’re shaping performance and elevating stories. Technology at Rouge is not the centerpiece; it is the instrument. When you give world-class artists the right tools and the room to grow, creativity rises.”
