Wheelbot is set to be released this year.
Indie game developer BATTLE LAB had a robot-skateboard game prototype ten years ago, and recently, they've finally made it into a full game in this third attempt and released a trailer for it, showcasing polished and satisfying gameplay:
Titled Wheelbot, this platformer asks you to control a robot skateboard with two wheels, orange and blue. The gameplay is not complicated — just to roll and spin to make sure the wheel's color matches the rail, and reaching an exit means completion of a level.
Arrow keys, WASD, or thumbsticks on a controller for moving left to right and rotating clockwise and counterclockwise. It asks for precise control and rapid reaction, and the levels become increasingly difficult with more obstacles and bombs, i.e., those red blocks, acid pools, and hard-to-reach places.
Speaking of the levels, BATTLE LAB revealed that each level is made of a collection of cubes placed like Lego. First, create a concept, test it, and readjust until it feels right.

This fun little game seems to be suitable for speedrunners, and the indie developer is also considering adding a leaderboard feature based on record times to make it more speedrunner-friendly.
With the aim of releasing the game this year, the developer is working on releasing a demo version soon. If you find its gameplay interesting, don't hesitate to wishlist it on Steam.
