See How Continental Hotel Was Blown Up in John Wick Chapter 4

The Yard demonstrated how the VFX were made.

VFX studio The Yard has released a video that shows its work on visual effects for John Wick: Chapter 4. In the footage, accompanied by very nice music, you'll see how the city was reconstructed to then lose its New York Continental hotel.

The Yard demonstrated the explosion floor-by-floor, with dark smoke obstructing most of it. There are also sequences of face-switching where the team created 3D faces to put on actors. Naturally, nobody got any brands on their body in real life, so the arms for the "tattoo" were also made digitally, and you'll get to see some glimpses in the breakdown.

The Yard is a company with many projects to be proud of, including Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, WandaVision, X-Men: First Class, and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. It is now working on Netflix's Damsel and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2.

John Wick: Chapter 4 starring Keanu Reeves was released in March and has captured many action lovers' hearts. One of its gunfight scenes was inspired by 2019's top-down indie shooter The Hong Kong Massacre developed by VRESKI.

Last year a report suggested that Lionsgate, the company behind John Wick movies, is considering the creation of an AAA game based on the action franchise. Later, the rumor was seemingly confirmed, so we're looking forward to a new game adaptation one day.
