Senua, Sequel to Hellblade II, Will Have a Different and Fresh Approach

The combat style will be more dynamic, and the story will occur in the Purgatory.

During the Xbox Games Showcase, it was announced Senua, which is a continuation of the Hellblade series by the studio Ninja Theory. It will also be an action-adventure game.

In a conversation between Xbox Wire and Dom Matthews, Ninja Theory Studio Head, Matthews explained that they decided to name the game Senua to express something new, fresh, and different.

He added that they see this game as an addition to the others, keeping an intimate storytelling, high production values, and a journey full of intent.

"I did spend a lot of time looking at what players said – you know, user reviews and reading forums – and understanding what people loved and what they'd like more of. And the resounding feedback there, frankly, was that people loved the presentation, the story, the tone, and the atmosphere that we achieved, but they'd just love to be able to engage with Senua at a deeper level, with more gameplay, with more agency, right?"

Other things he explained are that it will be a blend of combat, traversal, and puzzle-solving. The combat style will be very dynamic, with the liberty to choose how to start a fight with the enemies. The game will also have more weapons and boss battles.

The story of Senua will occur after Hellblade I and Hellblade II, and it is set in the Purgatory, which takes Senua's form from her childhood homeland.

Matthews mentioned that even though this game is a sequel, new gamers can play this title without having played the previous ones.

Senua will be released next year for XBOX Series X|S, XBOX on PC, Steam, and PlayStation. Right now you can already add it to your Steam wishlist.
