Shadow of the Colossus-Style Character Climbing in Unreal Engine 5

Toyojiro showcased a new climbing mechanic achieved using Scriptable Tools.

Toyojiro, a Game Developer and Unreal Engine enthusiast, whose realistic climbing animations were already featured several times here on 80 Level, continues ascending the mountain of greatness by showcasing a cool new mechanic that reminds us of Team Ico's timeless classic.

Having conquered all sorts of digital terrain, Toyojiro now moved on to moving targets, designing a new setup that allows the developer to climb moving characters, Shadow of the Colossus-style. Much like the creator's previous mechanics, the new one was set up in Unreal Engine 5, with Action Points having been placed using Scriptable Tools, a system within UE5 that makes it possible for programmers not familiar with C++ to easily build Interactive Tools in the Editor.
