Lead/Senior 3D Animator Andrey Filimonov continues his series of impressive 3D animations with yet another great sequence set up in Unreal Engine 5. This time, the creator has managed to set up a simple katana combat system, complete with several martial-arts-style attacks, mesmerizing visual effects, and stylish moves, such as the dash and the roll. According to the creator, the goal of the project was to learn more and practice with UE5's AI and Blueprints system.

For those unaware, the Blueprint Visual Scripting system in Unreal Engine is a complete gameplay scripting system based on the concept of using a node-based interface to create gameplay elements from within Unreal Editor. By leveraging this system, designers can create various gameplay elements, defining object-oriented (OO) classes or objects similar to common scripting languages utilized in the engine.
The Blueprint Visual Scripting system grants designers access to a wide range of concepts and tools typically reserved for programmers. Furthermore, Unreal Engine's C++ implementation incorporates specific Blueprint-related markup, allowing programmers to establish foundational systems that designers can extend as needed.
Here are some tutorials that might help you get started with the system:
