SOMA Developers Revealed an Extended Gameplay of Their New Horror Game

ONTOS is the new horror game by Frictional Games, the developers behind SOMA and Amnesia: The Dark Descent, that will have you playing as Aditi Amani in a sci-fi mystery.
The game was shown at gamescom during Opening Night Live, and it showed some similarities to SOMA, but with creepier and gorier visuals.

The video starts with Amani exploring the repurposed moon hotel Samsara; each room is full of information about what's happening there. Amani finds a rat strapped to a table, liberates it, and keeps checking the place.
Thomas Grip, the Creative Director at Frictional Games, said on PlayStation.Blog that the game will let you test theories and make mistakes before facing the main experiment.
"Another early character is Zike — who we hear briefly over an intercom. Zike is a man seemingly obsessed with finding the soul. Understanding stuff like this is not just fun lore, but a critical part of the game. The better you understand how a character works, the more informed decisions you can make. Sometimes it is best to avoid certain questions or give answers contrary to your own feelings to achieve the intended results."

Grip also said that their goal with the Rat Server is to provoke questions and thoughts in the player as they experiment with the probes on Crombie's head. Each experiment will have different endings, adding depth to the gaming experience and opening the possibility of replaying the game.
ONTOS is set to be released in 2027, and it will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
