On Monday, Sony announced it is has reached an agreement to acquire Haven Studios to make it a part of the worldwide PlayStation Studios network. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Haven is a Canadian studio led by Jade Raymond, best known for her work on Assassin's Creed. She has also led Ubisoft Toronto, EA Motive, and internal game development teams at Google Stadia. Sony announced a partnership with Haven over a year ago, and, according to the head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst, the company started working with Raymond and her team early last year. "From their first pitch, we were inspired by Haven’s vision for creating a modern multiplayer experience that brings gamers together in positive and meaningful ways," said Hulst. "We were confident in their creative and technical expertise to deliver on such an ambitious project and were thrilled to invest in their journey developing a new, original IP for PlayStation."

After the acquisition deal is closed, the studio will still be run by the current management team in close collaboration with PlayStation. The team currently has over 60 employees and it keeps expanding.

In an interview with Games Industry, Raymond shared: "This [acquisition] is what I would have ultimately hoped for in my dreams. ... The [Haven] team continues to feel like this is the best experience that we've had in our careers. It's been amazingly collaborative, with so many talented people to work with and inspiring studios to exchange ideas with. The team felt like we could really make the best quality game if we were part of the PlayStation family."
