Sony is allegedly considering delaying the release of PlayStation 6 to 2028 or 2029.
According to a Bloomberg report, the information was shared by sources familiar with the company's thinking. It is also noted that the alleged decision to delay the release of PS6 might challenge PlayStation's strategy of keeping players engaged across console generations.
Nintendo also reportedly plans to implement changes in its console sales and is considering a price rise for the Switch 2 console this year. The alleged reason for the delay and a price rise is a memory chip shortage. Currently, there's no official confirmation of this information from Sony or Nintendo.
There is no release date for PS6 yet, but it is generally supposed that the console will launch in 2027. Recently, there was a suggestion that the release might be delayed, as Sony was believed to expect the PS5's lifecycle to be extended.
