Stardew Valley Creator Explains Why Haunted Chocolatier Is Taking Longer

"Haunted Chocolatier is written from scratch, it's not the same 'engine' as Stardew Valley."

ConcernedApe

It's been several years since Eric Barone aka ConcernedApe announced Haunted Chocolatier, and now the developer has finally returned with an update for fans, addressing rumors that the game might have been canceled.

"I've been very productive lately on Haunted Chocolatier", said ConcernedApe in his recent blog post, admitting that the game was likely announced too early.

The developer shut down speculation that Haunted Chocolatier would be scrapped in favor of adding its content to Stardew Valley. He clarified that it doesn't even make sense technically, noting that "Haunted Chocolatier is written from scratch, it's not the same 'engine' as Stardew Valley." ConcernedApe also denied that the Stardew Valley updates are being used to experiment with ideas for Haunted Chocolatier.

ConcernedApe then said that he's focusing on a new Stardew Valley update due to the game's popularity and continuously growing player base, and because he still has new ideas for improving it, not because of creative burnout.

In conclusion, the developer stated that he does not want to commit to a release date. The game will launch when it is ready, and the most important thing is that he continues making progress and eventually releases it.
