Todd Howard shared what not to expect from the game.
It's several months until Starfield's launch, and players are eagerly anticipating all the exciting content it can offer. There are many cool features ahead, but what is not going to make an appearance?
In a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games, Todd Howard revealed that some features will not be available in the game. One of them is on-land vehicles and mounts.
"Is there a land vehicle, or an option to maybe mount some of these wildlife creatures to use as a land transportation mode of transport?" Howard was asked. "There is not," he replied.
"We want to design [Starfield] so it feels good on foot. But we do have the boost pack," Howard said (via PC Gamer). "The boost pack almost acts like this vehicle, it's super fun, where you can fly through… and then the low gravity planets are just really really special in the game."
Well, a jetpack sound cool, no doubt. I won't be surprised if many players find the lack of rovers and mounts disappointing though. Another activity that might upset some is fishing. Or rather its absence.
When asked about it, Howard was more evasive. "It depends on your definition of fishing," he said. "So, is it collecting fish? Killing fish?" One thing is clear: no, there is no rod to pull out alien fish.
Traversing these vast worlds of Starfield can be quite lonely without music, and fans are curious if there is going to be radio in the game. If you're expecting a range of stations, you're out of luck.
“There is one, but it is pretty much local to a certain location. It’s not something you can dial into when you’re away but there is a little bit of that I would say.”
What this space adventure will have is romance options, although only four. You can woo your crew members by completing their quests and learning more about them. Or you can leave them all behind.
Starfield is set to release on September 6 for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
