Steam Controller Sold Out Several Minutes After Launch
Twice.
While we were all wondering whether $99 for the new Steam Controller is too much or not, chances are you can't buy it even for that price now. The device was released on May 4 and sold out in the first 30 minutes, breaking the site in the process.
Then it was revived and restocked, but witnesses say that there were no more controllers in 15 minutes again. At the moment of writing, they are still out of stock.
Don't worry, you can buy the Steam Controller from other people... But for $200 and more. Yes, such is life: resellers cleaning up every store to then get some money in that dishonorable way. Business is business, but I personally condemn robbing players of goods to then use them for money.
Well, while you're waiting for a new batch, here's a reminder of what you get for your $99 (or $250): the new TMR (Tunnel Magnetoresistance) thumbsticks are said to be drift-proof, the dual trackpads are great for more accurate movement, and the magnetic puck is a huge improvement over traditional charging cables.
The biggest issue is that the gamepad works with Steam only, which makes you think twice about the price.
