The second installment in the Stellar Blade series is set to feature enhanced gameplay and an expanded world.
Ever since the Stellar Blade sequel was confirmed in the developer's May 2025 financial report, news about the next chapter in Shift Up's series has been few and far between. That changed recently when the studio delivered a long-awaited update, offering new details and confirming to fans' delight that the sequel has officially entered production.
Shift Up
As stated in Shift Up's semi-annual financial report, partially translated by industry insider Genki, the sequel is already in development, with the team aiming to further expand the Stellar Blade franchise as a whole.
The developers stated that the next installment will carry on the action-packed style of the original, and they even expect it to surpass the first game's success. Furthermore, they also mentioned the sequel featuring "enhanced gameplay" and "an expanded world/universe/setting," though some confusion in translation makes it unclear whether this refers to an expansion of the series' lore or simply a larger playable map.
When it comes to outperforming the first Stellar Blade, Shift Up will definitely have to go above and beyond to make that happen, with the original currently standing as the most successful former PlayStation exclusive to launch on PC.
Perhaps one thing that could help the sequel break all the records, instead of going down in history as Stellar Blade 2: Electric Boogaloo, would be the addition of a multiplayer component, which isn't outside the realm of possibility, considering that modders previously discovered leftover traces of a multiplayer PvP mode in Stellar Blade, which appears to have been cut at some point during development.
