What was once a possibility has seemingly turned into a solid project.
SHIFT UP
Action-adventure Stellar Blade will receive a sequel before 2027, according to SHIFT UP's recent financial report.
One page specifically states that "Platform Expansion" and "Sequel" are planned for the Stellar Blade IP, with the right column showing the year 2027 (spotted by Insider Gaming). This suggests that the sequel is likely to be released before the end of 2026.
Last year, the developer announced that they were exploring the possibility of releasing the hit title on the PC platform, as well as working on a sequel to extend the lifespan and influence of the IP. The idea seems likely to be confirmed, and development could already be underway.
Inspired by the famous sci-fi manga Gunnm (known as Battle Angel Alita outside Japan) and its 2019 film adaptation, Stellar Blade had a strong sales performance, achieving one million copies in just two months since its launch in April last year. While the developer didn't disclose follow-up sales figures, it for sure has a huge potential to grow into a powerful IP.
Meanwhile, its launch on PC is roughly three weeks away, which is likely to create a new tide for the sales. While players are excited about the new content for PC, some have criticized it due to the presence of Denuvo, the $70 price tag, and the game's unavailability in 129 regions.
