Oday Abuzaeed shared a breakdown of the project.
Oday Abuzaeed presented an absolutely gorgeous, fully procedural pond material, "packed with customizable parameters for endless variations."
The shader creates a curious illusion, with koi fish swimming among lily pads, all covered with a mosaic-like texture, which detects shapes and breaks their contours into smaller tiles.
"This project fuses Substance 3D Designer wizardry, unconventional UV mapping, and a shader setup that ties it all together into one dynamic, unified material."
Animated in Unreal Engine, the shader looks like an LED screen with stunning depth. Abuzaeed shared a breakdown of the project, so you can try making something like this yourself.
The artist has many impressive works on ArtStation, like a painting-like still life render, realistic bubble wrap, a photorealistic roof tile material, and a Ghibli-style procedural wall.
