Stylized 2D Fluid Fire Animation

VFX Artist Ivan Boyko showcased a neat fire effect that he has been working on in his spare time for about a year, and it's still a work in progress. The fire transforms from a small flame into a tornado and culminates in a massive blast. It kind of looks like a living creature, and the artist revealed, it seems to be actually attacking one:
