Super-Realistic Hairstyle Simulation in Houdini & Arnold

According to the creator, the system features "400-500 guides".

Junior Groom Artist and Character Designer Elahe Bayat continues experimenting with lifelike digital hairstyles by showcasing one more impressive project that pushes the boundaries of 3D photorealism. In this latest endeavor, the artist revealed a brief yet remarkably intricate hair simulation, achieved with SideFX's procedural 3D software Houdini, used to set up the simulation itself, and Arnold, employed for rendering purposes. According to Elahe, the system incorporates approximately 400 to 500 guides.

"I have come to the conclusion that I will use XGen for creating hairstyles," commented the creator. "However, as I have been spending more time in Houdini these days, I thought, why not groom a hairstyle with Houdini? And here is the result, which I am satisfied with."
