Take a Closer Look at Mesa, the AI from Prove You're Human

See the details behind the robot you will need to convince it's not human in sunset visitor 斜陽過客's game.

Prove You're Human is a unique game developed by the 1000xRESIST creator sunset visitor 斜陽過客 and published by Black Tabby Publishing, which made Slay the Princess. There, you need to make sure that the AI, Mesa, understands that she is not human, despite her conviction.

In a new video, presented at the Day of the Devs at Summer Game Fest, sunset visitor 斜陽過客's designer Pinki Li and artist Daniel Beaulieu share a glimpse at Mesa and her animations, as they discuss how the team integrated the writing, animation, and programming to bring Mesa to life.

The artists tried to keep a balance where there is enough complexity in the animation system for Mesa's poses and expressions but also so that the system is intuitive enough for the writers to control a lot of that animation in their writing documents through text-based macros.

“Prove You’re Human asks players to split in two to handle both physical and digital duties,” said Remy Siu, Founder of sunset visitor 斜陽過客. “This duality is echoed throughout the game, but also drives our approach to development. Our team is made up of artists in all their forms: dancers, musicians, filmmakers, and more. We explore them all as expressions of our own lived experiences to create a real human connection between our realities and celebrate the differences bringing us together.”

The Southeast Asian Games Showcase features a further look at the team and the Southeast Asian influences on Prove You’re Human. Its producer and actor Nhi Do, who voiced Watcher in 1000xRESIST, and Pinki Li will talk about it on Saturday, June 6, at 8:00 AM PDT/11:00 AM EDT in a new video.

The game doesn't have a release date yet, but you can wishlist it on Steam.
