Take a Look at Dandelion in Various Growth Stages in This 3D Gaussian Splat
Dany Bittel amazed the audience with a new work.
Digital Artist and Developer Dany Bittel, known for his stunning Gaussian splats of fauna, unveiled a new work – a Gaussian splat capture of the life cycle of a dandelion.
Dany Bittel shared that his new gear lets him capture splats in around 25 minutes, compared to the four to five hours it previously took, making the creation of Gaussian splats more practical and accessible.
The artist explained that each asset was shot from 90 perspectives with around 80 focus-stacked images each, using a Nikon Z8 with a full-frame sensor, f/11 aperture, ISO 100, and a Laowa 180mm macro lens, shot against a bluescreen with LED lighting. You can have a closer look at the work at SuperSplat, a free web-based editor for 3D Gaussian Splats by Will Eastcott.
Dany Bittel's portfolio features many jaw-dropping Gaussian splat works, such as a ladybug, a honeybee, a bumblebee, a butterfly, and a red firebug:
