Take a Look at This Fun and Gross Animation Made by a Team of 3D Artists

I can't stop watching it, even though I don't like spiders.

Nick Whitmire, Artist and Animator, shared on his socials a project he made with other artists. He explained that he was responsible for the layout, animation, and 2D FX, while Brandon Young did the lighting/rendering and FX simulations. The rigs were made by Kiel Figgins, and the sound design by blooodyuki.

The animation is very short, depicting an absolutely gross and kind of scary scene, but at the same time, I find it fascinating.

Nick Whitmire is an artist who has been in the industry for around 15 years, having experience in game cinematics, commercials, and films. He has said that animals and nature are an important part of his work. Now he works at Bungie.

You can see a brief breakdown glimpse as well, below. It really underscores how much of a team effort it is to create something polished in 3D animation, even if the entire thing only lasts a few seconds.

Check out other projects by the artist, like this really cute Battle Corgi, or the "Greater Than our Own" Process Breakdown, or the logo animation for The Satanic Temple.

If you want to see more of Nick Whitmire's projects, check out his Instagram, ArtStation, or Vimeo.
