Since its 3D era inception in 2001, the franchise has continued to thrive. By March 2023, GTA games had already surpassed 400 million in lifetime sales, and by June, the series added another 5 million units to its impressive sales tally. Take-Two's financial report for the second quarter of fiscal year 2024 confirmed the franchise's lifetime sales at 410 million.

Well, it's no surprise that the ongoing success of GTA 5 has played a significant role in this achievement since the game reached extraordinary sales of over 190 million copies, setting records as the fastest game to generate $1 billion in retail revenue. It also holds the title of the best-selling game in the US over the past decade.

Also, the debut trailer for GTA 6 garnered astonishing attention, amassing over 38 million views within its first six hours on the official Rockstar channel alone. At the moment of writing, the trailer has already been watched by more than 41 million people.
