The God of War Faye Spin-Off From Santa Monica Studio is Real and it Looks Fantastic
After months of rumors and insider reports, Santa Monica Studio finally announced God of War Laufey and it looks absolutely spectacular in its 20-minute gameplay presentation debut.
After months of rumors, insider reports, and community speculation, Sony Santa Monica has officially unveiled its next God of War project, dubbed God of War Laufey.
From what we've seen, this may be one of the franchise's most intriguing departures yet.
Revealed during PlayStation's latest State of Play presentation today, the newly announced game places Faye, the legendary Frost Giant warrior and late wife of Kratos, at the center of the story. Long referenced throughout God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök but rarely seen directly, Faye has remained one of the most important yet mysterious figures in the modern series. Now, players will finally get the opportunity to experience her story firsthand.
She will be motion-captured and voiced by actress Deborah Ann Woll in the game.
Details are still scarce, but Sony showed off an extended 20-minute gameplay presentation to close out the State of Play today. Here's what the PSN page says:
Experience the next chapter of the legendary God of War franchise - for both new and returning fans alike.
Death was supposed to be the end, but for Laufey (Faye), warrior and wife to Kratos, a new adventure is just beginning. Awakening unexpectedly in a strange land after her death, Faye discovers the plans she put in place to protect Kratos and Atreus in her absence are now at risk.
To save the ones she loves, Faye must fight through the afterlife of the gods - the Everywhen - where ruthless gods from across mythology vie for power in a land overflowing with dangerous magic. Harness Faye's speed, control, and relentlessness to overwhelm even the fiercest of foes with decisive, deadly precision.
God of War Laufey is coming soon to PlayStation®5 consoles.
