The Next Cyberpunk Game Will Be Developed by a New Boston Team

The fans, however, shouldn't worry as the studio's new Boston division will include the core development team that was in charge of Cyberpunk 2077.

On October 4, CD Projekt RED shared some details about new games that are currently in development at the studio revealing that it is planning to release three new games set in The Witcher universe and announcing that it is working on a new Cyberpunk title codenamed Orion.

Apart from announcing new titles, CD Projekt also shared that it will open a new division located in Boston that together with the company's existing Vancouver division will establish CD Projekt RED America. In addition, the company revealed that the newly-formed Boston team will be in charge of the next Cyberpunk game.

This news made CD Projekt RED's fans a bit confused as many assumed that the next Cyberpunk title will be developed by a completely new team that CD Projekt RED has not even hired yet. However, the studio later clarified this announcement.

According to Cyberpunk 2077 quest director Paweł Sasko, the development team responsible for Orion will include the core team that worked on Cyberpunk 2077. This team will be the foundation of the new division and will work on the next Cyberpunk game along with the crew from the company's Vancouver division.

"I'm moving to Boston together with the core team responsible for Cyberpunk 2077 to establish new studio and be the foundation for the North American team," Sasko wrote. "Working together with the Vancouver crew and the devs from Warsaw we are going to deliver you a banging next game!"

According to CD Projekt RED, the project Orion will "take the Cyberpunk franchise further and continue harnessing the potential of this dark future universe." It is worth noting that the studio doesn't refer to the next installment in the Cyberpunk series as a "sequel" – instead, the title is described as the next game in the franchise.
