Developer The Flying Baguette used his own arms to implement the feature.
Solo developer The Flying Baguette is working on a retro-looking game that might interest you if you're tired of modern graphics. As a sneak peek into Odd Town, he demonstrated the protagonist's hands that "act" like 3D objects (collide and react to light) but are actually 2D sprites.
A curious fact: the developer recorded his own hands, complete with animations, on a green screen and then implemented them in the game.
The main character of Odd Town is the town itself, and The Flying Baguette crafted it meticulously brick by brick (or rather pixel by pixel).
The Flying Baguette
"Odd Town is an immersive, retro-styled, first-person adventure game where dark humor, open-ended exploration, and chaotic storytelling collide. It’s a bite-sized open-world mystery that blends retro visuals, dark humor, and Twin Peaks-style surrealism."
The town seems peaceful at first glance, but son, you will realize that something is wrong there, and thus will begin the investigation "involving kidnapping, corruption and murder, with a tint of seemingly supernatural occurrences."
Odd Town doesn't have a release date yet, but you can play the demo on Steam. Also, check out the development process on Reddit.
