This 1940 Life Magazine Ad Is Actually 2D Vector Animation
Black magic.
Darcy Woodbridge and his Studio Spud set out to see if they could animate this old Life Magazine ad using Moho, the popular vector-based 2D animation software, and needless to say, they nailed it. It's a great ad for Moho: you'd probably never guess this wasn't some sophisticated, stylized 3D animation.
For many people, Moho started to appear on the radar as an alternative to Adobe Animate, especially after Adobe announced its discontinuation. But Moho has been around for a long time, and it has helped produce several Oscar-nominated animated features, like Song of the Sea (2014), The Breadwinner (2017), and Wolfwalkers (2020).
We've also previously showcased what Moho can do with a fan-made Animal Crossing musical, as well as Riot Games' VALORANT short, Come Home:
Moho has a YouTube channel full of cool examples from artists using it for all kinds of projects, from 2D animated films to projects that mix 2D and 3D, go check it out:
