About a year and a half ago, we covered Selaco, an upcoming retro-style first-person shooter developed by indie game developer Altered Orbit Studios. At that time, we learned that Selaco, powered by GZDoom, takes inspiration from classic FPS games like F.E.A.R., Quake, as well as DOOM, mixing high-octane gameplay with modern features. It will include action set pieces, destructible environments, custom AI, and a riveting story in a sci-fi underground facility.

Fast forward to today, Selaco is finally ready to be launched on Steam Early Access in a few days, on May 31st. We now have more information about the game in terms of story and features.
In the game, you step into the shoes of Dawn, an ACE Security Captain in Selaco, a refuge for survivors of Earth's fall. As you probe into Selaco's shady past, your quest is interrupted by explosions and invaders. While the game is set against a large-scale conflict, it's ultimately Dawn's personal story.

All your bullets will react with the environment, turning a serene office into smoking debris. So, get ready for some heart-pumping action as you blast your surroundings into absolute mayhem.
Taking a leaf from FEAR, the game features custom AI. Your enemies are alert, work together, and respond to your moves — whether, retreating, rushing, or tossing grenades at you. Besides, they'll drop custom-voiced hints about their tactics.

The game is complemented by an original soundtrack and professional voice acting, with Dawn voiced by Melissa Medina.
After completing levels, you can replay them in Incursion Mode for an endless enemy onslaught, earning bonuses for the campaign. Modding support is also available, letting you modify or create new content, or even port your favorite GZDoom mods.
