This New Co-Op Dark Fantasy RPG Is Like Elden Ring Meets Arc Raiders
This upcoming dark fantasy RPG combines Soulslike combat, co-op RPG progression, PvPvE encounters, and extraction gameplay into an epic adventure that feels like Elden Ring meets Arc Raiders.
At first glance, Mistfall Hunter sounds like a collection of gaming's most popular buzzwords.
Dark fantasy? Check. Soulslike combat? Check. PvPvE extraction gameplay? Check. Co-op dungeon crawling? Also check.
After trying out the Open Beta, it's clear that the result from combining several successful genres in this case is something that feels surprisingly cohesive, even if marrying Elden Ring's combat and worldbuilding with the tension and risk-reward loop of a game like Arc Raiders doesn't seem like an obvious choice.
In Mistfall Hunter, players go on dangerous expeditions into hostile environments, battle grotesque monsters and challenging bosses, collect valuable loot, and attempt to extract before losing everything to either the environment or rival players. While the extraction formula has become increasingly popular in recent years via games like Escape from Tarkov, Dark and Darker, Arc Raiders, and Marathon, Mistfall Hunter distinguishes itself through its heavy emphasis on third-person melee combat, character builds, and cooperative play.
The influence from Soulslikes such as From Software's Dark Souls and Elden Ring is immediately apparent. Dodges, stamina management, timing, positioning, and enemy pattern recognition all play major roles in success. Encounters often feel deliberate rather than chaotic, rewarding patience and mechanical execution over raw aggression.
Yet unlike many games in the genre, Mistfall Hunter is built around cooperative adventuring, encouraging players to combine class abilities and coordinate strategies against both AI enemies and human opponents.
The extraction mechanics add another layer of tension. Every successful expedition creates meaningful decisions about risk versus reward. Do you continue deeper into the dungeon in search of better loot, or do you extract while you're ahead? The possibility of encountering other players means that even a successful run can quickly unravel if you're caught off guard.
Visually, Mistfall Hunter is full of textbook dark fantasy imagery, including ruined kingdoms, corrupted creatures, ancient fortresses, and haunting environments that create a world that feels equally inspired by classic fantasy RPGs and modern grimdark storytelling. The game's atmospheric presentation helps reinforce the constant sense of danger that drives its core gameplay loop.
