This SSX-Inspired Snowboarding Game Will Have You Racing in Space

It's a new game from the developer of Slopecrashers.

CarveOut 2160 is an arcade snowboarding game set in space, featuring vibrant environments and intense race tracks. You'll have to survive to get what you desire.

It's a game that will take place in a not-too-distant future, when humans have established bases in space, making it possible to play sports outside Earth.

These are some of the core mechanics of the game:

  • Arcade snowboard mechanics with sliding on rails, tricks, and combo systems.
  • Boost to take down opponents and break barriers to get into shortcuts.
  • Gadgets like grappling hooks, rocket thrusters, and more.
  • Splitscreen multiplayer for up to 4 players.
  • Online multiplayer for up to 8 players.
  • Various game modes (races, trick events, time attack and more).

The developer behind the game is Johannes Lugstein, also known as byteparrot, who created the snowboard racer Slopecrashers, which features animals. We interviewed him about the game's creation process.

In the interview, he explained that he grew up with snowboarding games, so it was always clear to him that he wanted to create games in that genre. On Twitter/X, he said CarveOut 2160 is inspired by the iconic SSX game.

CarveOut 2160 doesn't have a release date yet, but you can already add it to your wishlist on Steam or follow the developer on Twitter/X to stay updated.
