Jack McKelvie has recently shared a guide to setting up naturalistic foliage wind that can be used with both stylized and realistic environments.
In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to make very naturalistic foliage wind that can be applied to both stylized and realistic environments. As a bonus, I’ll show you how to make a material that will allow you to dynamically modify the vertex normal direction of an asset. This is useful for many things including fixing the normals of grass, modifying the tree trunks to give smoother intersections or even removing lighting seams between the terrain and intersecting meshes.
I’ve also included the project files for free. Pick them up here.
The tutorial was originally published on ArtStation. You can get the artist’s project files for free here.
