Two Devs Launched Huge Free RPG Mod For Valheim With Over 100 Hours Of Content
Iron Gate should take notes.
Valheim launched in Early Access in February 2021 and quickly became one of the most successful indie releases ever, though it has also faced criticism for its slow development pace as it remains in Early Access. The game has also built one of the most active modding communities around, with fans creating countless new expansions. However, Adventure Map is a project on an entirely different scale.
It's not a traditional mod, but rather a massive RPG world inside the game, created by just two people, ninebyte and Dhakhar. Development began more than two years ago, and the project features up to 100 hours of content, 75 unique locations, and much more. It's now available completely free to play.
The project seems like an incredibly ambitious and impressive achievement, with some players already saying it'll transform Valheim into the kind of timeless experience people keep returning to, much like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Let's hope it brings a new wave of players to Valheim and renews interest among longtime fans.
Meanwhile, Jake Lucky published a full interview with ninebyte discussing the mod's development process, additional details about the project, and whether Iron Gate is aware of it:
The developers also hosted an AMA livestream a few days ago:
