Ubisoft Says Its "Developers of All Levels" Are Experimenting with AI

Ubisoft has said that it encourages its "creators and developers of all levels" to experiment with AI technology, emphasizing its openness to incorporating the latest technological advancements.

Ubisoft has shared that it encourages its creators and developers, regardless of their expertise, to experiment with AI technology, noting that it is open to utilizing the latest technological advancements.

While some major publishers approach the topic of AI with caution, Ubisoft stands out. In a recent investor report, the company confidently expressed its commitment to leveraging technology and empowering developers to freely experiment with AI.

"As the world adopts Generative AI at a record pace, GDC 2023 demonstrated its immense potential to profoundly transform creative industries," Ubisoft wrote in the report. "Ubisoft is uniquely positioned to lead this transformation, with a strong game technology expertise, over 20 years of proprietary data and assets, and a rich portfolio."

"Internally, early adoption is fast, with creators and developers of all levels experimenting with the technology and taking advantage of the booming Generative AI landscape. With them, Ubisoft is shaping a responsible framework with talent management and fair use at heart."

Ubisoft also noted that it is utilizing its research and development work in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning. It specifically mentioned that its La Forge division focuses on AI and ML applications. According to the French company, the goal of these efforts is to explore and identify the most effective use cases for AI technology to enhance creativity, streamline workflows, and improve the gaming experience for players.

Ubisoft has a history of pursuing technologies that have yet to be fully embraced by the gaming market. Previously, the company delved into the creation of NFTs, but in response to criticism, clarified that it had merely explored the concept to gain a better understanding of it. However, recently, it launched a set of Assassin’s Creed NFTs that it describes as "digital souls" that can be customized and embedded into physical Smart Collectibles.
