Ucupaint version 2.0 boasts a major refactor, leading to enhanced performance and a wider range of capabilities. Here are the highlights of this release:
- Driver support
- Per-layer opacity/intensity
- Realtime displacement on Blender 4.2+
- Vector displacement layers on Blender 4.2+
- Bump midlevel is now editable
This demo above shows you how to set up a driver with Ucupaint layer and a shape key.
The new layer opacity slider in the layer list affects all the channels inside the layer, and Ucupaint is also now fully compatible with Blender 4.2's new real-time displacement support for Eevee:
With Eevee displacement Blender 4.2, you can also use vector displacement maps as sculpt layers on Ucupaint 2.0:
Additionally, now parallax is hidden under experimental features, the list of channels is collapsed by default, height output from Ucupaint node is only available when displacement setup is enabled, and bump height/distance uses the same scaling as Blender, so the default value produces a lighter bump compared to previous versions.
Ucupaint 2.0 remains compatible with all Blender versions starting from 2.79, ensuring users with older hardware or software can still utilize its features.
