UE4 Tutorial: Creating a Skill Tree System

Check out a step-by-step tutorial on how to create a solid skill tree system for your game using Unreal Engine.

Nitrogen has shared his approach to creating a skill tree system in UE4 and did a walkthrough of the whole process from start to finish with commentary. The video also comes with tricks and tips on how to make a skill tree system more understandable for the player.

A correctly built skill tree system will allow an RPG player to customize the character’s abilities and help make it more personal for the player. The skill tree system has to be balanced in order to avoid the gameplay plain or too complicated.

The list of games with a well-made skill tree system includes such big titles as Far Cry games, Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, the Diablo series, Borderlands 3, Horizon: Zero Dawn, to name a few.

This project includes assets, maps, materials, Blueprints, and effects created in the Unreal Engine. Each asset was created for realistic AAA quality visuals, style, and budget.
