UI Overhaul Coming To ZBrush

An announcement regarding a somewhat unified design for desktop and iPad was made at ZBrush Summit 2025.

This year marks a historic milestone, 25 years of ZBrush, and Maxon brought the community together online for the ZBrush Summit 2025 Virtual Edition, featuring sculpt-offs, artist sessions, and a sneak peek at what's next.

We know that ZBrush plans to introduce new retopology tools and a dedicated UV Editor for desktop, allowing users to create, edit, and manage UVs directly within the application. These updates were discussed in detail during the event, however, the standout announcement was the upcoming UI overhaul for the ZBrush desktop version, expected next year. Apparently, the developers are drawing on their experience from working on the iPad version, which means the two interfaces will be much more closely aligned.

Among the changes highlighted were sculpting modes, contextual interfaces, and customization options that allow users to create their own workspaces. For those who aren't ready to say goodbye to the old UI, you should be able to toggle between the classic and the new version.

The event ran from November 7-9, but if you missed it, don't worry, recordings of all three days are available so you can catch up on everything:
