As this year's GDC kicks off next week, Unity got the ball rolling early with a Unity Product Update livestream, highlighting plans for version 6.4 and beyond. It covered changes to the render pipelines, with a particular focus on URP's graphics advancements, Platform Toolkit updates, Steam support, and more, including the progress on CoreCLR integration.

Notably, the livestream teased Surface Cache Global Illumination, a new single system that bridges the gap between dynamic and static lighting, working without reauthoring materials, which will be broadly available in Unity 6.7 LTS. The CoreCLR desktop player will be offered as an experimental feature in the same release.

Unity also expanded on IAP, a platform that allows developers to sell items like premium content and virtual goods directly within a game. You can sign up for early access to IAP and learn more here.
