Using Unity's Ziva VFX to Set Up an Anatomically-Correct Dinosaur

Anupam Awasthi demonstrated a couple of amazing animations achieved with Unity's soft-tissue simulation plug-in for Maya.

Anupam Awasthi, a skilled 3D Animator and Creature FX Technical Director at SPIN VFX, has recently showcased the capabilities of Ziva VFX, a robust soft-tissue simulation plug-in for Maya developed by Ziva Dynamics and acquired by Unity last year alongside its developer, demonstrating a mind-blowing animation achieved with it.

Leveraging the toolset and "Ziva Dynamics coupled methodology", the creator managed to set up an anatomically-correct Cryolophosaurus animation with physically-accurate bones and muscles. According to the author, the project was made at VisKefi, a VFX and animation studio, under the supervision of Dhanu Muddikuppam, an Animation Director and Co-Founder of VisKefi and its Creature Animation Workshop.

Besides the dinosaur, the creator also shared a couple of highly-realistic greyhound animations, also achieved with Ziva VFX in Maya. You can check them out down below or by visiting Anupam's LinkedIn and ArtStation pages or the artist's YouTube channel:

In case you missed it, Unity has just shipped Ziva VFX 2.2, a new and improved version of the toolset. The release introduced a new GPU solver, added a novel Attachment Stretch Visualization feature, and fixed a couple of bugs. You can learn more about the update by clicking this link.
