Warhorse Reveals New KCD Game Will Be Open-World RPG, Confirms Same for Middle-earth

We might already know a release window for the new Kingdom Come game.

Last week, we learned that Warhorse is working on two new projects – an open-world Middle-earth RPG and a new Kingdom Come adventure. Recently, the studio hosted a YouTube stream in which Tom Grey, Community Manager at Warhorse, and Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, the studio's Communications Director, shed more light on what the studio is preparing.

As shared in the stream, the announced games set in the Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Middle-earth universes will both be open-world RPGs. While the Middle-earth game was already confirmed as an open-world RPG at its initial announcement, fans were left to speculate about the "new Kingdom Come adventure," as the studio described the upcoming project. Now, the developer has confirmed that both will be full-fledged, proper games. Later in the talk, Tobias Stolz-Zwilling added that the studio continues to expand the Kingdom Come universe, its passion project.

The Communications Director also revealed that the Kingdom Come project will be led by Prokop Jirsa, while the Middle-earth game will be headed by Viktor Bogan, the design director of Kingdom Come. Stolz-Zwilling also clarified that the new Kingdom Come: Deliverance title is set to release next fiscal year, highlighting that fans won't have to "wait another seven years" for the next entry in the series.

Check out the highlights from the stream shared in the X/Twitter post from Warhorse:

The Communications Director also noted that the studio is now doing something it has never done before – maintaining two simultaneous projects – and that it is large enough to focus on two separate major IPs.
