Watch How Phaseguard Skin Animations Were Made for Valorant
You'll want to get one.
Valorant has unveiled the Phaseguard skin collection, and as pretty as it is, the process behind the animations is even more fascinating, at least for 3D artists and animators.
Thankfully, we have some interesting footage thanks to an artist known as Dylan Goat, who has shared a breakdown of the weapon's video reveal created in collaboration with the Good Boy film production studio. He was responsible for animation, camera, and lighting.
There is also a gem from animator Billy Vu Lam, who made in-game animations for the skin and showed the references he shot for the weapons, both ranged and melee.
We have also seen an Aemondir blade animation from Billy before, just as crisp and smooth.
By the way, did you know that Valorant used to have a "pay-to-lose" skin? Pro players didn't use Spectrum Phantom because it was a little longer than other skins, which could give out your position, so when Riot found out about this, they fixed this curious issue.
