We Now Know How Many Trees Skyrim Has, but The Elder Scrolls 6 Will Have More
Todd Howard's tree guess wasn't right, but he sure knows what to expect from the next game.
Have you ever wondered how many trees there were in Skyrim? Me neither, but every game has its researcher, and for this curious question, it is content creator Any Austin.
In a massive challenge that required attention, math, and a lot of free time, he counted trees in the game in 3 ways: manually by walking around, the math way by counting the average, and through science by selecting forest areas only.
Funnily enough, his first guess, where he was just counting trees manually, was the closest to the real answer, taken from the game's files. So, now you know: there are 46,430 trees in Skyrim.
But that's not the best part: Todd Howard also took a guess in this "competition," assuming there were 111,111 trees – a way off, but he shared another piece that might make Austin's life harder in the future: The Elder Scrolls 6 will have "most definitely" more trees.
Considering the tech progress since Skyrim's release and TES 6's presumed larger size, it's not surprising, and I hope Austin comes back to count those trees as well.
For now, we can just wait for the next TES game, which is "progressing well" but still has no release date or much meaningful information.
Austin also asked some other creators to guess the number of Skyrim trees for charity, and if you want to know who won, check out the whole video, it's more entertaining than you might think.
