You Can See That Realistic Tentacle Monster in Elevator Is Not AI

Alex Zabei Vorota dispels cries of "AI".

We've met some 3D works that were so unbelievably realistic that people thought they were camera footage. With the growth of AI in the industry, you now see more comments questioning and accusing artists of using AI. It's inevitable when technology can generate almost anything but a little sad that people can't even trust their eyes nowadays.

Alex Zabei Vorota, also known as ghost3dee, fell victim to AI accusations, but he has the receipts. Remember the scarily realistic tentacle monster in the elevator? Alex showed the work behind the simulation.

You might find something new in his workflow, like the walls' topology: "Camera mapping techniques require a denser mesh to avoid texture distortion. I project the same original video onto the elevator mesh to capture more accurate lighting. The actual mesh used for collisions and such is in the small turntable clip in this video," he shared.

People screaming "AI!" doesn't bother Alex because he knows what he puts into his projects. "The 'AI' hype and confusion is just noise to me. But it was fun to collect all these comments into a compilation that shows how uninformed some people are."

It might be fun, but it's also worrying. Will we lose the ability to see human touch in the future? Hopefully, it will never come to that, but I'd suggest keeping behind-the-scenes footage just in case.

You can find Alex's simulations, like this octopus, on his X/Twitter

No, a certain kind of human has always been inclined to point the finger and scream heretic/witch/AI-user, in return for a brief sense of purpose and smug satisfaction.  They won't ever care when they're wrong, nor apologize, just look for their next victim.
