Ubisoft has demonstrated ZooBuilder, the company's upcoming software for animating various animals.
Ubisoft has unveiled ZooBuilder, an interesting software currently being developed by the studio. Using machine learning and AI, the tool can recreate accurate animated skeletons of various animals by analyzing video footage. The tool is currently being developed by Ubisoft La Forge, the company's Canadian branch dedicated to building technical prototypes.
According to the announcement video, the idea behind the software is to help animators create a wide variety of animals without spending too much time learning all the nuances of their shapes and sizes. The upcoming AI-based tool will be able to generate animation rigs by analyzing basic data about animals and footage of them. The rigs will be then refined and polished by humans to create never-before-seen digital animals without mocap and keyframe animation.
