This Yamaha R1 from 2010, used by the Vuvalini in Mad Max: Fury Road, was modeled in Maya by Shantanu Mishra with cloth simulation in Marvelous Designer, and textured and rendered in Substance 3D Painter and Marmoset Toolbag by Alps Chikodikar.

With limited reference material for the Vuvalini bike, Shantanu began by closely studying the Yamaha R1 using high-resolution images, technical breakdowns, and YouTube videos.

"Replicating details from the tire treads to the engine components was challenging, and careful attention was given to matching forms and structure. Some of my favorite parts of the process were working on the seat/saddle details with the leather finish and modeling the brake components, focusing on material quality and realism.

The cloth bags and fabric elements were simulated in Marvelous Designer, requiring multiple iterations to achieve believable interaction with the bike. Studying the wiring and mechanical connections was also a demanding but essential part of creating a convincing, production-ready asset," commented Shantanu.

Alps Chikodikar shared that since much of her work on Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga was hidden under dust FX, she took on this project to showcase the full range of her skills as a Texturing and Lookdev Artist. Take a closer look at the bike below:
