A New Tutorial Explains How to Make a Mecha Duck in Blender

A weapon of mass destruction has never looked so adorable.

Back in June, 3D Artist and Architectural Designer Nicholas Wong, a.k.a. Nocluse, shared a fun Blender-made 3D animation depicting an adorable little stylized ducky transforming into a weapon to surpass Metal Gear and annihilating Blender's default cube using a built-in minigun, four small artillery guns, and two large laser cannons.

Several months later, Nick delivered a much-anticipated update on the project in the form of a comprehensive video tutorial explaining how exactly the hilarious sequence in question was made. Marking Nocluse's first-ever fully-fledged tutorial, the video delves into how this weapon of mass desquacktion was modeled, rigged, and animated in Blender, with the author planning to cover aspects such as bullet impacts, lasers, and rigid body simulations in the upcoming Part 2 of the guide.

Please note that the tutorial was designed for artists with Blender skills of intermediate or higher and requires you to have experience with hard-surface modeling and be familiar with basic rigging and animation techniques. You can watch the full video attached above or by visiting Nocluse's YouTube channel.
