Artist Shares a New Maya Plug-In That Simplifies Creation of Real-Time Hair Cards
The tool generates hair cards from guide curves.
3D Character Artist Nikita Sergun has shared a tool for 3D artists that simplifies the complex process of hair visualization. The creator unveiled HairCard Creator, a Maya plug-in that speeds up the creation and editing of real-time hair cards.
The tool generates hair cards directly from guide curves. Artists draw guides on a scalp mesh, shape them using dedicated viewport tools, and produce procedural card meshes that can be further edited through the HairCard Creator panel.
Card Shape controls include mode, segments, angle, width, rotate, twist, taper, distance, and reduction, while the curve editors allow for changing angle, twist, and taper profiles.
