Artist Shows That Learning Houdini FX for One Year Can Get You Far
Fire, water, rain – it's all here.
Every 3D artist knows that Houdini is an extremely powerful tool for VFX and simulations: most of the beautiful water sims you see on 80 Level are done with the software, for a good reason.
An artist known as Major_Ad6184 on Reddit shows this reason in their reel featuring their progress in learning Houdini for a year. The creator worked on fire, water, rain, dust, and other elements, and the results are impressive, especially for such an arguably short time.
You'll see a medieval battle, a racing car, a roaring dinosaur, a peaceful beach, and more in the video, which will hopefully inspire you to pick up Houdini as well.
Take a look at how other artists use its tools in Viktor Zadorozhnyi's real-time VFX tutorial and Caue Rodrigues's realistic beach simulation.
